Solo trip to Hinchinbrook
words and photos by Lance Meeson
I had been looking forward to fishing some making tides up the channel with morning lows for some time, so headed up to cardwel for a couple of days after my last stint at work. Luck would have it was raining in cardwel so launched the boat in the rain and headed down the channel with not much interest at all thinking this is going to be a long couple of days, and after about 4 hrs casting for 1 cod and a couple of half hits from barras I decided to hit a section I have never fished , and the first gutter I hit with a nice snag in it I pulled a couple of barras out so I decide to keep working that section of bank by the end of the day ended up with a few barra ,few cod and couple of jacks. Next day was still raining but looked like the sun was trying to pop out in missionary so that’s where I headed which was a good call as there was no rain and landed a few more barras , jacks and couple of salmon .
