Bob's Fantastic Kinchant Dam Adventure
Words and Photos by Bob Avery
Here is another report, from Kinchant Dam this time and it has been raining on and off for a few days. It has not effected the barra though.
Managed a 82 cm fish on a 10 kg tippet. Even that was not enough for the first fish I hooked as it just sliced it off on its gill plates.
The largest Barra from Kinchant Dam, photo on web site, comes in at 143 cm. That is one big animal. I found a dead one that was about 126 cm. My measuring mat only goes to 1.2 metres so I am guessing the exact length.
I wont mention I have caught a few others, (82 n’ 92.5 cm) on large plastics as this is a flyfishing article. I am yet to find the sooty grunter that are reported to be here too.
Since Bob has penned this article, he has found those elusive sooties.
