March 2 - Tough Bohle Club Trip
Three or four boats rocked up for the first club boat trip of 2013 and most of us were reasonably confident that the smallish tides, relatively clean water and building storms would provide us with some decent fishing. Instead it turned out to be a slow, hot day with strikes few and far between.
One highlight, was that new member Drew came close on two separate occasions to hooking up to his first fish on fly. The first at a spot known to hold good barras, but he missed the strike due to some line management issues, while Dave looked on hopelessly. The second was picked for a jack, as in the blink of an eye Drew's fly was wrapped around some submerged mangrove roots.
A lone archerfish was boated, which was small consolation for 6 hours on the water in the heat of the day.
Atleast no-one can say we're not persistant.
