We are the NQ Flyfishers
We are a North Queensland based club with members in Townsville, Ingham and the Whitsundays. The club has a current membership of about 25 but our membership is growing steadily, with a great group of guys that enjoy getting out and about with mates and promoting fly fishing as a sport as well as a recreational pastime. We meet on the second and last Thursday evenings of each month from 730pm, fish as a club once a month, and also enjoy regular fly casting practice with our very own FFF Certified Casting Instructors. On any given weekend you will be sure to see atleast 1 or 2 of us out and about, fishing somewhere....
The working program for the year is now available in the forms section below.
Sorry for being slack of late. Lots of things happening and as a result the website is falling behind. Can you believe it is September already?? That means our second last monthly meeting is to be held Thursday 29th September. We have a guest speaker this month to discuss the new ANSA Fisheries Monitoring Strategy to help guide us in implementing our own plan.
We also have a Bay / Bluewater fishing trip scheduled for the end of the month so please put your thinking caps on. I have already posted options on Facebook for your consideration.
I'm ALWAYS on the lookout for stories and pics to keep the site moving, so if you have an interesting outing, some useful tips, techniques or a step by step for a favourite fly pattern, send them on through and I'll d my best to get them up ASAP. Please be mindful of pic sizes though and if you can reduce them to 1024x768 pixels that'd be fantastic, as they can be easily emailed and still edited without losing too much definition.
Please keep at me if I don't put something up straight away, I can get caught up with life sometimes.
Visitors and new members are always welcome!!
NQFF are now proudly associated with Project Healing Waters Flyfishing Australia. See the below press extract from a recent Press release.
Just as Walter Reed Army Medical Center, then in Washington, D.C., served as the flagship program for the start of PHWFF in the U.S., Townsville, Queensland is host for the first program in Australia.
"Townsville is a garrison town with a military base and military hospital treating a majority of our Afghanistan casualties," noted West. He added that over a dozen service members and veterans are already waiting to start meeting with the North Queensland Fly Fishers and get the program underway, and that number is growing as word spreads.
The NQ Flyfishers are proud to have been involved with our veterans, through Project Healing Waters and the Townsville Branch of the RSL since 2013.
